How to Choose a Therapist

Successful therapy requires a strong working relationship between you and your therapist. You must make sure you are comfortable enough to share your painful feelings with another person, and it has to be the right person for you.

Choosing a therapist is an important decision, and one that requires time and research. My advice is to visit several therapists for a full or short session to find a good fit. Take a list of questions to your exploratory session to gain a sense of how you and the therapist might work together. Finally, verify the therapist has all the credentials he/she claims to have.
